Breaking 101 for New Players
Here is a guide covering the basics of the game and how to perform the special gear-breaking move. This info is based on using a controller.
Game Basics
Scoring and Winning Matches:
Points in a game are scored as 15, 30, 40, and then the final point wins the game. If the score becomes 40-40, this is called “deuce”. To win from deuce, a player must score two points in a row. The first point gives “advantage”, and the second point wins the game.
In this game, a match is won by being the first player to win two games out of three. In the final match of a tournament, you need to win three games out of four.
Gameplay Modes:
There are two main modes. You start with Campaign mode.
- Campaign: This mode lets you unlock the five main playable characters, upgrade them, and follow the story involving Coach Ester and the team.
- Tournament: After the prologue, this mode becomes available. It’s used to gain experience (EXP) and money. Tournaments have three difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Professional. The Professional level offers the largest money rewards.
EXP and Money:
Money is used to purchase new equipment (gears) from the shop. EXP is used to level up and improve your characters’ abilities.

Each of the five main characters has her own EXP level, but all unlocked equipment can be used by any of them. You can also spend Money in the shop to buy EXP directly.
Character Information:
- Bridget & Kate: These are considered all-around characters without exceptionally high stats in one area. Bridget has the “Tenacious” perk, which helps gain EXP faster. Kate has the “Persistent” perk, which helps charge the Tension bar more quickly.
- Daisy: Can reach a maximum Speed stat of 95 with the right equipment.
- Claire: Can reach a maximum Technique stat of 95 with the right equipment.
- Rachel: Can reach a maximum Power stat of 95 with the right equipment.

Gear Breaking (Ultimate Move)
This section explains how to activate the special move called “Ultimate Omega Cloth Breaker”.
Summary:
To perform the move, you need to use up your character’s stamina to fill the Tension bar completely, then use an Active skill.
The Tension Bar:
This is the red bar located under the green Stamina gauge, below your character on the screen.

Charging the Tension Bar:
- Charge the bar by using stamina. This happens when you move, hit the ball, or charge shots.
- When the Tension bar is fully charged, it will change from red to a rainbow color.
- Stamina recovers slightly when a point is scored and fully resets at the start of a new set.
- The Tension bar charge carries over between sets and remains until the match finishes.
- Using any skill, whether marked as “Active” or not, will consume some of the Tension bar. To charge the bar efficiently, consider using normal shots like volleys, Perfect Shots, and Smashes more often, and position yourself slightly behind the court’s middle line.

Activating the Ultimate Move:
- Make sure the Tension bar is full (rainbow colored).
- Press the button for an Active offensive skill when hitting the ball towards your opponent.

- Your character must be in a good position when receiving the ball for the Active skill to register and trigger the move’s animation.
- The move can also be activated by using an Active serve skill at the start of a point if the Tension bar is full.
- Occasionally, the move might activate even when using a normal volley if the Tension bar is full.
- The ball does not need to be aimed directly at the opponent for the move to work.
Extra Information
Kate’s Perk:
Kate starts matches with 75% of her Tension bar already filled due to her “Persistent” perk. This makes it easier to charge the bar fully and use the ultimate move with her.

Animations:
Only the five main playable characters have special animated sequences during the ultimate move. CPU opponents do not have these extra animations.
CPU Rewards:
Defeating a CPU opponent in any tournament level for the first time unlocks an H scene for that character.
