Max your ship fully but do not invest in the speed update.
This is what I used as my guns on the ship.
I do not know exactly but I think this also could help. I lower my fps to only 30.
When to use your gadgets
First off all the rocket with the heal supplies, do not use it when it spawn try to wait as long as you can.
The ION-Cannon should only be used against big ships. Try to hit as many weapons as you can.
Use your shield to protect your ship.
