Diablo Immortal – Best Wizard Build for New Players

Quick Guide to Best Wizard Build

Skills: Electrocute, Arcane Wind, Scorch, Lightning Nova, and Teleport.

Gear

  • Head: Vaetia’s Resourceful Countenance
  • Chest: Coat of the Astrum
  • Shoulder: Angmar’s Repulsive Burden
  • Pants: Fractured Footsteps
  • Mainhand: Thistlebloom and Thunderbird’s Bite
  • Offhand: Soaring Scree and Siphon. Unrepentant Gale, Azkalors Fire and Electrocute essences are fine, but I prioritize mobility.

Set Items: Grace 4/(Your Pick – I prefer Montebank 4)

Build Tips

  • Why Fractured Footsteps? This is a helpful new addition to supplement CC post-Angmar nerf. I avoid using Teleport for mobility and focus on offensively locking opponents down.
  • Why Angmar? Despite the nerf, I still prefer Angmar to trigger an initial knockback. This critically gives time for Arcane Wind to suck in opponents and/or follow with a Tele-stomp freeze. Scorch is frequently the opener to a CC chain because it’s a long-ranging homing attack.
  • Why use Vaetia? Beyond the incredible utility of a homing attack and applying KB thru Angmar, Vaetia crucially applies Shock. Shock status was introduced with Lightning summon necros and apparently boosts Lightning-based essences with a 50% damage buff (i.e. Firestorm). This means Vaetia can amplify damage for Electrocute and essences like Heart of the Storm!
  • Why use Astrum? This is your major damage dealer and enables mobility thru Siphon and Soaring Screen. Do not think this is a small damage dealer. Lightning Nova will contribute nearly 2x more damage than either Scorch or Arcane Wind. The reason it’s so strong is that Astrum receives the Shock status damage buff, plus uniquely adds additional damage “Lightning” ticks if an opponent is suffering Shock Status. Vaetia/Astrum combo is huge and anyone selecting Lisannas for freeze will notice the damage drop.
  • Why use Electrocute? Because of my experiments with Shock-status effect, I realized Electrocute is far stronger damage than Magic Missile.

Other Notes:

  • Add Extra Defense: I run 60s Savior, 7xJolt, WB Protector, Montebank 4, and then either Brawler or Gladiator.
  • Pace Casting Spells to Enable Burst Attacks: All skills have 2-3 charges and dont waste them. This takes some experience, but you DON’T want to spam all your skills as soon as they are off cooldown. Yes, most cooldowns are less than 6s, but the greatest strength to the build isn’t the CC, but applying targeted burst damage. You can bring down stronger opponents by unleashing all of your saved charges in a single overwhelming attack. Ive destroyed Tempests thinking they could 1v1 me (yes its still not easy).
  • Grace 4/DoTs: I heavily take advantage of DoT gems and Lashed 4-6 to fuel Grace 4. This enables me to score kills on opponents disengaging (or if I need to disengage).
  • Playstyle: You can switch between ranged support vs battlemage/lancer “backline hunter”.

Raids:

(Swap dance lightning with halestone).

Farm:

PVP:

That’s all! I really appreciate it if you’ve made it this far. See you in the game!

I love two things in life, games and sports. Although sports were my earliest interest, it was video games that got me completely addicted (in a good way). My first game was Crash Bandicoot (PS1) from the legendary studio Naughty Dog back in 1996. I turned my passion for gaming into a job back in 2019 when I transformed my geek blog (Re-actor) into the gaming website it is today.
