Ghostwire: Tokyo – Hyakki Yako Locations for Hero of Shibuya Achievement

So you want to get the all the spirits before going into chapter 5 to get that sweet Hero of Shibuya achievement, but you’re missing about 15 000 and you can’t find them anywhere? Well, I’ve got good news and bad news…

What You Need to Know

So you want to collect the final 15k spirits before you progress to chapter 5, but you found every spirit in the underground and the overworld. Well, if you’re like me, and avoided the ghost parades after the first encounter, where KK shouted at you to stay away from them, I’ve got bad news for you. The ghost parades, or hyakki yakus are the locations for the final set of spirits.

So what do these hyakki yakus look like? You may have come across them a few times, but avoided it like the plage. It is when an army of ghastly visitors shrouded by fog march around the large streets of Shibuya. If you run up to them, you are teleported to an arena where you have to fight multiple waves of enemies, after which you are rewarded with 1,5k-2k spirits.

The hyakki yakus, to our best understanding, are on a timer. After you finish one, a certain amount of in-game time has to pass, until another parade can spawn. The exact amount is unkown, it’s roughly around 20-30 minutes.

There’s no easy way around, if you haven’t done a single one of these, you’ll need to enter 8 hyakki yakus, which means that even if everything goes well, it’ll take about 4 hours.

The good news, you can just leave you character standing in one place for 30 minutes, alt-tab and leave the game running in the background, then come back to it, but sadly the waiting can’t be skipped. I tried running between the different locations, but I couldn’t trigger it to spawn prematurely. There are reports of players who got multiple hyakki yakus back-to-back, but it wasn’t the case for me.

So, here’s what my advice would be: go to any of the locations shown in the video below (extra credit for the poster, amazing video with detailed locations), chances are a hyakki yaku will spawn, enter it beat it, swoop up the spirits. Wait for 20-30 minutes, preferrably not near any of the spawn locations. You have to enter the spawn zone AFTER the waiting period is over for a parade to spawn. Until then, go do some side missions, or collect relics, or any of the million other collectibles. In my experince, it doesn’t matter which spawn locations you go to, after the colodown is over, it should spawn if you enter the area where the event can happen, regardless if you’ve done a hyakki yaku at that location previously. Do this as many times as you need to, and then after a while you will get those final spirits.

Whether it’s worth wasting your time for this achievement, it’s up to you. This is how I did it, and it seemed to work. Hope it helps you guys too. Cheers
