Glavenus is one powerful monster. It features a blade as a tail which it will use a lot, along with its powerful jaws and breath attacks on hunters.

The tail will grow hotter and more keen with each strike it makes until the tail glows a bright red orange. This is when it’s most dangerous. Its tail swipes will begin to leave trails of fire along with the hit itself. If hit the attack itself will set your hunter on fire, or alternatively if the hit misses but you pass through the flames it leaves behind you can also catch on fire.

Once red hot, the tail will begin to rust and the monster will sharpen it with its fangs, bringing the tail up to its mouth. This allows it to store slate it can expel as fiery breath attacks or exploding pools of magma. Sometimes, striking its throat as it glows red will produce a stun attack that will topple the monster to the ground.

You’ll want to look out for powerful tail attacks Glavenus will throw at you. It can jump into the air and do a 180 turn, bringing its tail around to the front of its body in powerful slams that may catch you off guard, especially if you aren’t expecting the follow up slam that can come after it. These attacks are made even stronger should you find avoiding attacks from a tail that’s glowing red hot.

Because of these powerful attacks, you’ll want to focus on lopping off the tail to gain a bit of an advantage on Glavenus. However, you’ll only be able to do true damage to it when it’s enraged and glowing, so try to use mounting attacks to bring the beast down while the tail glows hot to lop it off.
