State of Decay: Year-One – Reset Hero Progression (Breakdown)

This short guide will explain how to reset your hero progression in case you want to start all over again. This guide applies to Breakdown only. Take note that this guide is tailored for the YOSE edition, as I’m not entirely sure if it applies to the original version.

Introduction

Hi! Welcome to my first guide. This short guide will explain how to reset your hero progression in case you want to start all over again. This guide applies to Breakdown only. Take note that this guide is tailored for the YOSE edition, as I’m not entirely sure if it applies to the original version.

Resetting Hero Progression

To reset hero progression, simply go to the directory of your SOD YOSE game (../Steam/steamapps/Common/State of Decay YOSE). In here, go to the USER directory and go to the folder with random numbers on it (Trivia: this is your Steam ID). In this folder, remove the following files:

  • SandboxNextDay.NUMBER.ulsave
  • SandboxPreMission.NUMBER.ulsave
  • steam_autocloud.vdf
  • UserStats-dlc.cfg

Where NUMBER is between 0 – 3 that corresponds to the 4 profiles for every game mode. This is where your game data is saved for each profile. Substitute NUMBER using the guide below:

  • Profile 1 is 0
  • Profile 2 is 1
  • Profile 3 is 2
  • Profile 4 is 3

Syncing with Steam Cloud

Your SOD YOSE data is synced with the file called steam_autocloud.vdf to your Steam Cloud. You can safely remove this file from the USER/YOUR_STEAM_ID/ directory or better move it somewhere as backup. I don’t recommend deleting the same file under the USER directory though, as I’m not sure what happens if you remove it.

Closing

With that said, thank you for checking out this short guide. I hope this helps a lot of players who wants to reset their hero progression. I made this guide after making a huge mistake on my very first playthrough of Breakdown (one of my female survivors died while travelling to the supply run location and ironically her first name is Faith lol). By then, I wanted to start from scratch.
