The Problem

If you load a save containing DLC items and don’t have DLC installed properly, you’ll get this error:

If DLC is not installed properly, you’re either missing all DLCs or only have half of them:

The Fix

  • Please check where you have installed Tales of Vesperia. The default directory is:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition

If you’re unsure where you have installed the game, do this:

  1. In Steam Library, right-click on “Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition”.
  2. Choose “Properties…”
  3. Click “LOCAL FILES”.
  4. Click “Browse…”
  • What you want to do is locate the Steam’s configuration file (the manifest file that contains information about the game’s installation). It should be located in a directory before TOV’s folder:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\
  • Before you do anything, please check Steam is not running. Any changes you make will revert back to how it was if Steam is running.
  • What you want to do is open the configuration file (appmanifest_742300.acf) in Notepad:
  • Look for for the “Installed Depots” section in the file.
  • Add the missing DLC Depots under “InstalledDepots” after the first } (closed bracket) sign:
"738542"
{
"manifest"		"-1"
"size"		"0"
"dlcappid"		"821740"
}
"738543"
{
"manifest"		"-1"
"size"		"0"
"dlcappid"		"821750"
}
  • Remove the lines that contain “DisabledDLC” followed by either empty quotations marks or numbers inside the quotation marks.
  • If you did everything correctly. The end result should look like this:
  • Save the file.
  • Launch Steam.
  • Launch the game.
  • Now depending on your issue, the loaded saves containing DLC items should work and the missing DLC can be found in the items menu:
