In this guide it will give you reasons why to fight Duke Fishron in the Pre-Plantera stage or even Pre-Mechanical Boss stage.

Reasons You Should Fight Him Before Either of These Stages

  1. It gives a challenging and fun fight for experienced players.
  2. Fishron’s gear massively overpowers you for the upcoming progression so you can absolutely smash through hardmode.
  3. You feel like a pro when you beat him as your first hardmode boss.
  4. You get access to the 3rd best pair of wings in the game as soon as you enter hardmode.
  5. In my opinion, Fishron’s weapons are some of the funnest in the game, and are used all the way up to end game.

Elaborating The Dot Points

  1. It gives a challenging and fun fight for experienced players.

This is personal opinion, but with the gear available I find it to be a hard yet entertaining fight because of the skill it requires to dodge all of his attacks and deal as much DPS as possible with Pre-Mech gear.

  1. Fishron’s gear massively overpowers you for the upcoming progression so you can absolutely smash through hardmode.

Some people like to challenge the mech bosses with the normal gear available just after entering hardmode, but I find it halarious to just watch them get shredded with what is meant to be post plantera gear.

  1. You feel like a pro when you beat him as your first hardmode boss.

Enough said, beating such a hard boss that is meant to be way later in the game feels like such an accomplishment when you first do it.

  1. You get access to the 3rd best pair of wings in the game as soon as you enter hardmode.

Being able to skip through all the stinky wing progression that fast after entering hardmode is a life saver, the mobility these wings grant you is great and will serve you well up until you get a pair of lunar wings, or the star platform thingy as an expert mode drop from the moonlord.

  1. In my opinion, Fishron’s weapons are some of the funnest in the game, and are used all the way up to endgame.

I am mainly a mage user, having access to the bubble gun and razorblade typhoon is just so op and nice to have. The bubble gun excels with short range pure DPS, and the razorblade has great clearing capability for day to day clearing mobs out of the way, up to events and even the celestial pillars. Weapons like the flairon and tsunami also do fantastic, the tempest staff is a great summon that helps a lot as a backup.

In my opinion, Duke Fishron should be the first boss you target in any world when you first enter hardmode.
