The First Descendant – How to Beat Bosses Fast & Easy

Quick Guide on How to Defeat Bosses

My Guide is about explain certain mechanics:

  • Make the boss stop doing any damage to you and your allies.
  • Immobilizing and circumventing boss mechanics.
  • When and how to deal damage and why it’s important to know.

Every Boss has a few bars and symbols at the top of the screen that you should take notice of. Next to the name it shows you the weaknesses. For example on Molten Fortress it’s Cold and Crush. Cold damage is increased by 150% and your weapon do 10% more if they are Crush type weapons.

Beneath the name we have shields and health, self explanatory but then we have the purple bar which is called rage-meter. At the start it’s empty and will get filled if you shoot the boss, hit weak points or over time. What you and your team wanna do at the start of the fight is to shoot one single weakpoint that you can grapple on. Once it’s yellow, stop shooting and let one of the team grapple onto.

During the time someone is grappled on the boss he won’t attack anyone, is immobilized and the rage-meter won’t get filled. This is the time your team start discharging all their damage. So instead of ripping the piece of right away you just wanna smack it until it’s close to be destroyed.

On the right of your character, when you’re grappled on there is a yellow curved bar.

That is the timer for you how long you can be grappled. So hit the shoulder until it’s almost done and then just stay there and wait until the bar is almost empty. At the last moment you’ll hit it and make the boss downed. Below the rage-meter will now appear a black symbol with a grapple on. This is the grapple immunity timer.

For your skill-based damage dealer I advise you to build Dangerous Ambush. This Mod increases the damage of all abilities by 74.7% during the time the boss is grappled on or downed. When Boss is standing up again, stop doing damage and make the next weakpoint ready to grapple. it’ll be white cause of the immunity but once it’s yellow again you repeat what you did with the first one.

After those two damage phases any boss should be dead by now.

So stop spamming damage like a smoothbrained monkey and make your team suffer. Wait for the right moment to phase-damage and use the grapple timer to the fullest.

Thank you for your time and I hope this little tutorial was helpful to you.

My first game was Crash Bandicoot (PS1) from the legendary studio Naughty Dog back in 1996. I turned my passion for gaming into a job back in 2019 when I transformed my geek blog (Re-actor) into the gaming website it is today.
