After you have defeated Eikthyr and explored the Black Forest, it’s time to fight the next boss, The Elder. He is a little more difficult than Eikthyr, but defeating him will allow you to start exploring new biomes and get new materials, which will greatly improve many things, such as base building. This guide will help you defeat The Elder.

The Elder (Boss Guide)

Introduction
In this guide, I will show you how to find the place where you spawn The Elder, how to spawn him, and good strategies for defeating him. When you are done, you will walk away with your second Forsaken Power. In my opinion, it’s not as good as the first one, but still useful.
How to Find the Spawn Place
Just like with Eikthyr, the first step to defeating The Elder is finding the place where you spawn The Elder. You need to find another Vegvisir, however, this time, you have to find it by exploring the Black Forest. They can be found in many places, such as Burial Chambers or inside houses.
Walk up to the stone, and interact with it.
This will register the location on the map. Go there to find the spawn place.
Instead of an altar, it’s a platform with pillars and a fire in the middle.
Preparing for the Battle
The Elder is not as easy to defeat as Eikthyr, and just keeping the distance will most likely not be enough. Fire is his main weakness, and therefore, using a bow with fire arrows as well as campfires is a very good strategy for winning the battle.
Build fireplaces where you think he will walk.
You’re not going to be using melee weapons at all because his attacks can deal a lot of damage.
Other than the bow, I recommend getting Bronze Gear and being able to have 100 hp, which will require good food.
It’s also a good idea to set up a portal close by, since your base will probably be far away from the Spawn Place.
Spawning the Boss
To spawn the boss, you need 3 Ancient Seeds, which you get from destroying Greydwarf nests, killing Greydwarf Brutes and Shamans, or from chests in houses.
When you have 3 of them, you need to walk up to the fire and drop them in it by putting them in one of the [1-8] slots in your inventory. See the screenshot below.
Once you have dropped the seeds in the fire, The Elder will spawn close by.
Strategies for Defeating The Elder
Like I said, bows with fire arrows as well as campfires will be your best weapons against The Elder.
He has strong ranged attacks that deal a lot of damage. He can spawn roots around you, that will keep hitting you, or he can throw vines at you.
Use the pillars as cover whenever he attacks, and shoot him with fire arrows when you get the chance. Try to also make him walk into the campfires.
Acquiring the Forsaken Power
Once you have defeated The Elder, you will get a trophy. Just like with the previous one, go to the spawn area and hang it on the correct stone (the one next to Eikthyr’s stone) and interact with it to get the power.
This power lets you chop trees faster for 5 minutes, and has a cooldown of 20 minutes.
