Warhammer 40,000: Darktide – Can’t Start Game (Error Code: 30005)

How to Fix – Error Code: 30005

Error Code: 30005 (CreateFile Failed with 32.)

This error shows that the Easy Anti-Cheat service is being prevented from carrying out one of its operations by something on your computer. Anti-Virus software or a program of a similar nature is usually to blame.

• Ensure the appropriate Anti-Virus and Firewall exceptions are in place for both Vermintide 2 or Darktide and the Easy Anti-Cheat service
• A ‘Selective Startup’ can also help diagnose whether a background application is resulting in your issue. This can be performed by:
  1. Press the Windows key
  2. Type ‘msconfig’ and select ‘System Configuration’
  3. On the ‘General’ tab, select ‘Selective Startup’
  4. Deselect ‘Load startup Items’
  5. Reboot your PC
  6. Launch Vermintide 2 or Darktide as normal
• If the error no longer persists after having performed the Selective Startup, you will need to re-enable each of your usual background applications one-by-one until the error reoccurs, to determine which is interfering with Easy Anti-Cheat
  
• Check that the Easy Anti-Cheat service is enabled by:
  1. Open the Command Prompt as an administrator
  2. Enter the command:
     services.msc
  3. Locate Easy Anti-Cheat within the list and double-click it
  4. Change ‘Startup Type’ to ‘Manual’
  5. Save the changes
