Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – How to Deal with Warrior Mobs

Quick Guide to Warrior Mobs

In my experience the best method is not to rely on things like frag grenades, kraks, or anything like that as having them in inventory is not reliable especially while playing with strangers. The most reliable method that I’ve found is learning how to move around the enemy and keep as many as you can in front of you. This works on any difficulty regardless of the class. I beat all the missions on Lethal with Tight Formation and it works even better now that it’s gone.

The biggest problem people run into is when they try to stand their ground and get completely surrounded. You cannot effectively fight what’s behind you. Are you able to fight 2-3 Tyranid Warriors on your own? Yes? How did you do it? Did you keep them in front of you? I’m willing to bet that is the case. Now apply that same principle at a larger scale and life will get a lot easier. Yes, they will try to surround you. Yes, there will be moments that you are.

If you get surrounded, stay calm about it. No panic pressing buttons or anything like that. If you need to hedge your bets roll in the direction you just came from as it’s the most likely area to be clear. That’s not 100%, but in the moment it can be better than where you just were. And like others in this thread have said, don’t automatically try to capitalize on a gunstrike because they will attack you at the same time or even in different tempos.

Wait for just a split second to see what’s happening and then if you can go for it. Panning the camera during an execution is absolutely critical as it can tell you where you need to roll and position yourself to keep the deadliest enemies in front you. You can do it. This method works for me regardless of the class, but is especially useful for Vanguard and Bulwark. You’re always in the thick of it and learning to manage those numbers with movement and melee saves your ammo for the things that are more difficult to reach, like a Zoanthrope.

The main thing though is practice horde management as much as possible. I should add that you should keep your shields as high as you can as often as you can with executions including minoris ones. Don’t just shoot them like everyone else. Execute them to buy you those few seconds of I-frames to figure it out. There’s always an answer. You may even be out of ammo, but you’re never out of options. Remember brother, we are fear incarnate.

I love two things in life, games and sports. Although sports were my earliest interest, it was video games that got me completely addicted (in a good way). My first game was Crash Bandicoot (PS1) from the legendary studio Naughty Dog back in 1996. I turned my passion for gaming into a job back in 2019 when I transformed my geek blog (Re-actor) into the gaming website it is today.
