Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 – Parry Practice Tip: Use Trials in The Armory

Parry Practice Tip

By Artimise.

I think a lot of people don’t realize that there is a controlled and safe environment where you can go to train how to parry. Specifically with the chain sword and power sword.

The following trials allow you to practice with the either a chain sword or a power sword; you can pick between whatever version of the weapon you have unlocked (Balanced, Fencing, Blocking of any rarity) to test the timing for their parry windows and grow accustomed to them, with the caveat that it’ll only be against Tyranids, Hormagaunts, Warriors and Ravenor to be specific

  • Tactical Marine Trial – Auspex Scan: The start of this mission lets you practice your parries and perfect dodges against a dual bone sword wielding warrior. So long as you do not kill this warrior with gun strikes or melee attacks, you can practice parrying with your chain sword as long as your heart desires
  • Bulwark Marine Trial – Shield of the Emperor: This trial tasks you with defending an NPC from several packs of Hormagaunts and eventually a single Ravener. If the NPC goes down, it does not end the trial; so long as there is an enemy alive, and you do not die yourself, you can practice parrying against both the minoris gaunts as well as the Ravener. Like the Tactical Marine trial, you may choose whichever version of power sword and rarity you desire to practice with.

Power sword is one of the weapons that oddly seems to throw a lot of new players since the balanced versions timing seems to have been slightly different compared to the chain sword and thunder hammer.

Still, this is a great way to get some training under your belt before you dive into higher difficulty operations so that you may get a grasp on the bare basics at the very least.

My first game was Crash Bandicoot (PS1) from the legendary studio Naughty Dog back in 1996. I turned my passion for gaming into a job back in 2019 when I transformed my geek blog (Re-actor) into the gaming website it is today.
