Assassin’s Creed III Remastered – Stuttering and Performance Fix

Having weird stuttering or frame drop issues with modern hardware? Use this fix to smooth out those frames and enjoy this classic in all its buttery goodness!

Stuttering and Performance Fix

This will help fix your game. We tested it on Steam, but it should work no matter where you bought Assassin’s Creed. Remember, this fix is different from the ones for AC Brotherhood and Revelations – you need to do two steps instead of one. Make sure to follow all the steps carefully.

Note: I have not tested this fix with the standard, non-remastered version of AC3, so I cannot speak for how well this will work for that version.

Part #1

  • Launch AC3 Remastered through Steam or whatever client you are using to play.
  • Press ALT+TAB to return to the desktop.
  • Open the task manager using CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
  • Head over to the “Details” tab.
  • Right click the executable, typically towards the top of the list if sorted alphabetically.
  • Click “set priority.”
  • Change the value from “Above normal” to “High.”

Part #2

  • Right click the executable.
  • Click “set affinity.”
  • Uncheck ALL Cores except Core 0.
  • Click “OK.”
  • Right click the executable again, and click “set affinity” once more.
  • Re-check ALL CPU Cores.
  • Click “OK.”
  • You should be able to close Task Manager, and ALT+TAB back into the game, but now with even smoother and more consistent performance!

Please note: This fix must be done every single time you launch the game!

Hopefully this guide has helped you solve any issues you are having with stuttering and/or low FPS in a game that has no right performing poorly.

I love two things in life, games and sports. Although sports were my earliest interest, it was video games that got me completely addicted (in a good way). My first game was Crash Bandicoot (PS1) from the legendary studio Naughty Dog back in 1996. I turned my passion for gaming into a job back in 2019 when I transformed my geek blog (Re-actor) into the gaming website it is today.
